The Electronic Telegraph Derbyshire v Glamorgan, National League 2nd Division, 1999
Electronic Telegraph - 3 May 1999

In Cardiff, Alun Evans's 108 was the springboard from which Glamorgan leapt to their second win, beating Derbyshire by 25 runs.

It was during Evans's partnership of 76 with Keith Newell, who made a robust 41 off 47 balls, including five fours, that Glamorgan picked up momentum. He led the final charge, which brought Glamorgan 78 runs from the last 10 overs.

Derbyshire had a better start than Glamorgan, their first wicket putting on 52. Michael Slater was hard pushed to find his timing and he was just beginning to get into his stride when Watkin trapped him lbw. They declined to 82 for four and the only phase in which they neared the asking rate was when Glenn Roberts hit four fours in two overs, just after the halfway stage.
