Kent 2nd XI v Warwickshire 2nd XI, Semi Final Mark Davies - 17 August 1999 Llong shines in the gloom Like Hampshire on Monday, Kent yesterday reached the final of the AON Trophy - by virtue of a better record than their opponents in the qualifying matches - when rain allowed only 46 overs to be bowled at Canterbury. The vagaries of the weather mean that neither side playing in the final on Sept 6 will have got there by winning a semi-final. Nigel Llong's unbeaten 85, as Kent reached 221 for three, was a commanding display of driving on both sides of the wicket, and Will House and Richard Clinton, 17, also caught the eye. The venue for the final will be decided by the toss of a coin at Lord's today. AON 2ND XI TROPHY.- Semi-final: Kent 221-3 (N J Llong 85 not); Warwicks 6-0. Match abandoned (rain). Kent in final.
