AXA Life League Round-Up: Lancashire do their level best

LANCASHIRE   lost  three  wickets in their bid to get the last 16
runs for a win over Middlesex at Uxbridge and had to  be  content
with  a tie. The last  pair, who needed three runs off two balls,
ran a bye off the last to level the scores.

The two points put them level with Essex and Kent - both  with  a
match in hand - at the top of the table.

The platform for a final assault on a target of 197 was erect- ed
by Neil Fairbrother, with partnerships of 59 and 50  with  Andrew
Flintoff and Mark Chilton.
