Date-stamped : 19 May97 - 06:16 Essex v Durham Essex(210-8) beat Durham (208-8) 2 runs DURHAM found themselves on the wrong side of the Law at Chelmsford as Essex won by two wickets and left them still searching for their season`s first Sunday League victory. This time, however, it was Danny, and not Stuart, who emerged as their match-winner after his side, chasing 209 to win, had looked on their knees with their top four batsmen back in the pavilion for 38 in the 10th over. Law drove with immense power, on his way to a career- best 82 from 75 balls. His four sixes came at the expense of off-spinner James Boiling and during half-century partnerships with Paul Grayson and Darren Robinson which wrested the initiative from the visitors. Law was finally undone by Neil Killeen when a sliced drive found the hands of Mike Foster in the 37th over with Essex still 24 from their target with two wickets left. Mark Ilott and Ashley Cowan, however, were to rise manfully to the challenge with some robust blows. It all left John Morris wondering what he must accomplish to finish on a winning side. He struck a magnificent 110 from 96 deliveries, seven of which he pulled or drove for six.
