The following is the text of an undated media release from the
ZCU, received, 17 February 1998

Zimbabwe in New Zealand

Shortly after arriving in New Zealand from Sri Lanka, Everton
Matambanadzo injured the shoulder of his bowling arm.
Unfortunately, the injury has not responded to treatment and
Matambanadzo will not take any further part in the tour.
Furthermore, it is considered unlikely that he will be fit in
time for the tour of Zimbabwe by Pakistan in March.

The Zimbabwe team management has decided, however, that
Matambanadzo will remain with the tour party for the remainder
of the tour in New Zealand, as part of his personal development.
