Ananda edge out Richmond Daily News - Friday 03, April 1998 Ananda edged out Richmond by five runs to enter the semi-finals of the Coca-Cola Cup Schools limited over Cricket tournament. Taking the first lease of the wicket of their quarter final match played at SSC grounds yesterday, Ananda made 163 all out in 49.5 overs but did well to defend that low total as the Galle team were shot out for 158. Ananda will now meet Isipatana in the first semi final match to be played at Sara Stadium today. In the other semi final scheduled for the same day, S.Thomas' will meet DSSMV at Nomads grounds. Outstation cricketers take major honours By Chris Dhambarage Outstation schoolboys took major honours in the Coca Cola League Championship conducted by the Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association (SLSCA) and concluded recently. Dharmasoka College Ambalangoda produced the best batsman in the 'A' Division League in the form of Chamara Soysa while S.Devapura of Dharmapala MV Pannipitiya won the best all rounders award. Sajith Rupasinghe of Ananda was named as the best bowler in the League tournament. Meanwhile in the 'B' Division League championship Chamara Silva of Royal Panadura won the best batsman's award while Ranil Dhammika of Lumbini MV was named as the best bowler. In addition Mahesh Palihakkara of St.Anthony's College, Kandy was selected as the best all rounder. Holy Cross College Kalutara took top honours in the 'C' Division League championship with C.Kumarage winning both the best batsman and the best all rounders award. The best all rounder was B.Wickremasinghe of Bandaranaike MMV, Gampaha. St.John's College Panadura were declared as champions in the 'C' Division League championship. The award winners in the League tournaments, all captains of the participating teams in the knockout tournament and the man of the match award winners from the quarterfinal stage onwards in the knock-out tournament are requested to report to Frank Cooray, tournament secretary, SLSCA on Sunday April 5 at the SSC grounds, Maitland Place at 3.00 p.m with their cricketing suits. Meanwhile the semifinals of the knockout tournament will be worked off today at the P.Saravanamuttu Stadium and Viharamaha Devi Park. The final is scheduled for Sunday at the SSC grounds, Maitland Place with Ana Punchihewa, Managing Director of Pure Beverages Company Limited as the chief guest. Keerthi Adasuriya, General Manager of Pure Beverages Company Limited will be the guest of honour.
