RAWALPINDI, Oct 9: Pakistan vice-captain and wicketkeeper Moin Khan has a sore back but the injury is not very serious, team management said on Thursday.
Moin had to hand over the gloves to Mohammad Wasim at lunch break on the fourth day and didn't take the field in the remaining two sessions.
The home team management stated that physiotherapist Dr Dan Keisal was treating Moin and his initial finding were that the injury was not serious.
``We pulled him out on precautionary measures so that the injury doesn't aggravate,'' The Management said in a statement.
``If needed, Moin will do the keeping on Friday. However, if the match was inching towards a draw, he will be held back so that he gets more time to recover from the ache,'' the statement added.
Pakistan play South Africa in the second Test at Sheikhupura from Oct 16 which gives Moin another seven days to prepare for the fitness test.
According to investigations, Moin had slight pain on Wednesday but when he got up from bed this morning, the pain had increased.
He, nevertheless, kept wickets as Pakistan aimed to grab some early wickets to put pressure on South Africa. But after all efforts went in vain, Moin decided to hand over the charge to Wasim.
Mohammad Wasim was robbed of his first stumping in Test cricket when Saqlain Mushtaq bowled a no-ball with Dave Richardson half way down the track.
