Dalmiya to intervene

India and Pakistan are scheduled to play a 3 match ODI series in Pakistan which overlaps with the 1997 New T&T/Cathay Pacific Hong Kong International Cricket Sixes.

Indian stars Mohammad Azharuddin and Sachin Tendulkar have previously expressed their desire to participate in the Hong Kong event, and the Indian Board is believed to be willing to acquiesce to a scheduling change. The only obstacle thought to remain for tournament organisers is the Pakistan Cricket Board, and it is hoped that Dalmiyas timely intervention will be of help.

Should both Boards be willing to co-operate with the Sixes organisers, and postpone their ODI series by a week, fans in Hong Kong can be assured of an unrivalled weekend of cricketing action. In addition to the world class sides being sent by Australia, England and South Africa, the presence of stars such as Tendulkar, Azharuddin, Shahid Afridi, and Wasim Akram, to name a few, would take this years event to unsurpassed heights.
