The Maitland place club has gained a total of 81 points with three outright and one first innings wins in five outings which included a 'no decision'. Colts CC has advanced into the second place with 70 points with two outright and one first innings win, also in five outings.
In the third place is Bloomfield (68.5 points), followed by former table leaders Kurunegala YCC (61.0), Tamil Union (56.5) and NCC (54.5). Defending champions CCC have been suspended from the tournament. The points scored against them by NCC (22.0) and Bloomfield (3.0) have been withdrawn.
* Moors Sports Club continued to head the latest points table of the Sara Trophy division 1 segment 'B' tournament, conducted by the Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka.
The Braybrooke Place Club has gained a total of 42 points winning both their tournament matches outright. Air Force takes the second place with 36.5 points (one outright ad one first innings win each), followed by Negombo CC (20.5) and Rio SC (15.5). Kurunegala SC heads the Group 'B' with 25.5 points.
* The Segment 'B' of the Division I, P. Saravanamuthu Trophy cricket tournament match between Old Dharmapalians Cricket Club and Kandy Cricket Club which was scheduled to be played at the Steel Corporation Grounds, Athurugiriya was not played.
The Manager of the Kandy CC Deva Amunugama said that his team found the grounds unfit to commence the match and therefore their team lodged a protest to the two umpires and returned to Kandy without playing the match. They also be made a protest to the Tournament Committee.
Meanwhile, Old Dharmapalians are likely to become the second division I club side after CCC, to be suspended from the on going tournament. Informed sources said that pending the outcome of an inquiry, Old Dharmapalians face immediate suspension from participating in the division I Segment 'B' tournament. Old Dharmapalians were to host Kandy CC in a tournament match scheduled to begin on January 10 at Athurugiriya Steel Corporation grounds.
