* Bloomfield continued to head the latest points table of the Sara Trophy division 1 segment 'A' tournament, conducted by the Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka. They have gained a total of 116.5 points with three outright and an equal number of first innings wins in seven outings.

Helped by an outstanding all-round performance by former Sri Lanka Test cap Ruwan Kalpage (twin fifties and a match bag of 10 for 75), Bloomfield accounted for their third outright victory for the season when they thrashed Kalutara TC by 416 runs. SSC, who too made a great recovery to record their fourth outright win, advanced to the second spot with 103.5 points.

In the third place is Colts CC (100.0 points), followed by Tamil Union (92.5), NCC (76.0), Kurunegala YCC (65.0), Singha SC (59.0) and BRC (58.0).

* Moors SC consolidated their position in the latest points table of the Sara Trophy division 1 segment 'B' tournament, conducted by the Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka. They registered their fourth successive outright victory to maintain their undisputed record.

The Braybrooke Place club has gained a total of 86.5 points, followed by Air Force (62.0 points) - two outright and one first innings win, also in four games. Rio SC (37) are placed third followed by Negombo CC (27.5).

Meanwhile, Matara SC heads the segment 'B' group 'B' standings with three outright and one first innings in four games (78 points). Nomads (70) are placed second, followed by Kurunegala SC (59.5).

* Dharmapala Vidyalaya took honours in their drawn cricket encounter against Isipatana at the BRC grounds, Havelock Park. The highlights of the game were the two impressive all-round displays by Chinthaka Jayasinghe (Dharmapala) and Sri Lanka poolist for the New Zealand tour left-arm pacemen Nuwan Soysa (Isipatana). The duo hammered centuries (Chinthaka 100 with 15 fours and 5 for 37) and Soysa (103 with 16 fours and a six and a match bag of 8 for 79).

The outcome of the match mainly hung over on their performances. Dharmapala were all out for 184 and Isipatana were 148 for 5 overnight. Nuwan Soysa was unbeaten on 83 and went on to compile a well hit 103 but they fell short of 2 runs to take a first innings lead. By virtue of the slender lead Dharmapala regained the M.S.Perera Memorial Trophy. Chief scores: Dharmapala - 184 and 235 for 5 declared.; Isipatana - 182 and 109 for 7 at close.

* The key inter school cricket-match between Royal College and Ananda Vidyalaya, which was to be played this weekend, has been put off for the third week of next month due to the nonavaliablility of a neutral venue.

The Royal-Ananda cricket series has been confined to neutral venues over the last few years. Royal, beaten by St.Joseph's in their centenary match last weekend, will be the guests of St.Peter's at Bambalapitiya next weekend (February 7 & 8).
