* The Sri Lanka Cricket Board's 49th annual general meeting is scheduled to be held on March 2 in Colombo and unofficial canvassing have already begun. Some prospective candidates are even making a last minute attempt to play division 1 cricket to get nominations.

The Cricket Board Ex-Co recently classified division I (Segment 'A' and 'B'), division I (limited overs) and the division I (Segment 'A') Under 24 as its major tournaments.

According to its constitution, other than treasurer or assistant treasurer, no person is entitled to hold office unless he has represented a club (affiliated or controlling member) or a member cricket association at cricket in any major tournament conducted or approved by the Board.

* Kingswood College, Kandy had to be satisfied with a first innings lead in their Coca Cola Bottlers Trophy cricket encounter against St. Thomas' College, Bandarawela which ended in a draw at the Badulla Esplanade.

The visitors batting first scored 117 runs in 39.4 overs but STC were bundled out for 69 runs in 23.5 overs. Batting for the second time Kingswood scored 178 runs in 48 overs. Chasing a to- tal of 226 runs STC at one stage looked like heading for an outright victory with 150 for 2 needing 76 runs in the last 15 overs. However their middle order batsmen threw away their wick- ets and they were 192 for 8 in 57 overs at close of play.

* World champions Sri Lanka will play a minimum of 27 one day internationals during 1997 starting off with next month's tour of New Zealand. These are in addition to the four limited over tournament finals.

World champions Sri Lanka's strength in one day cricket will be tested fully this year as they are down to play in four limited over tournaments. Their first tournament for the year will be the Champions trophy tournament in Sharjah in April.

Sri Lanka's first one day game for the year 1997 will be the first game of the three-match series against New Zealand on March 22 at Eden Park. Their last one dayer for the year will be the third and final one day international against India in December's home series.
