Akram slams 1-day schedule for 2-week break
ADELAIDE (Australia), Dec. 17: Pakistan captain Wasim Akram Tues-
day slammed the scheduling of the triangular international one-
day cricket series in Australia which has left his team with a
"boring" two week break.
Speaking after Pakistan`s seven-wicket mauling by the West Indies
in their second match of the series Tuesday, Akram said it was
frustrating his side had to wait until New Year`s Day to play
Australia again in the limited-over tournament.
"We should have this sort of tournament over in about 20 to 25
days before we play the finals series," he said. "It gets a lit-
tle boring but I believe we have to cope with it because we`re on
tour."
The series, which is scheduled to finish on Jan 22, is spread
over more than six weeks and is interrupted by the third Test
between Australia and the West Indies at the Melbourne Cricket
Ground, which begins on Dec. 26.
Akram said Pakistan should also have more than the one four-day
game, which starts against Tasmania in Hobart on Thursday.AFP
