GR Stead became stand-in captain for Canterbury in Murray's absence.

    • Wellington coach Bob Carter fielded for his side on the third day's play as reserve fielder due to replacements made for the match at Wanganui.

    • CD McMillan 100 in 119 balls.

    • CD McMillan and CZ Harris set a record 5th wicket partnership against Wellington of 183 (Previous best: 181 by BA Hayworth and SC Guillen at Christchurch in 1953-54).

    • CD McMillan's 157 equals the Canterbury First Class record for the most centuries in one season (3) with WA Hadlee in 1947-48.

    • MA Hastings' 52 is his maiden First Class half century.
