Date-stamped : 23 Sep95 - 10:23 Ruwan and Romesh for one dayers in Pakistan - Sa`adi Thawfeeq All-rounder Ruwan Kalpage and wicket-keeper Romesh Kaluwitharana will join the Sri Lanka team in Pakistan for the three-match one- day series. The first one-day match is scheduled for September 29 at Gujranwala, but according to Cricket Board sources, the two players are being sent ahead of time to acclimatise themselves to the conditions there. The team management in Pakistan have informed the Cricket Board that the weather in Pakistan is ex- tremely hot at times. Kalpage and Kaluwitharana will leave shortly and join the Sri Lanka team at Sialkot, the venue of the third and final Test which begins tomorrow. Left-arm spinner Jayantha Silva who has a leg injury is ex- pected to be one of the players who will return home to make way for Kal- page. However, the team management in Pakistan have yet to decide on whom they will send back for Kaluwitharana. The Sri Lanka team will return from Pakistan on September 5 and leave for Sharjah shortly afterwards for the three-nation Champions trophy tournament from September 11-20. Pakistan and West Indies are the other participating countries. A squad of 14 players will be selected for this tournament comprising largely of those who will be engaged in the one-day series in Pakistan. Cricket Board sources said that with a view to an important tour of Australia coming up in November, some of the key players may be rested when picking the side to Sharjah. Sri Lanka is due to play a series of three Tests for the first time in Australia and also participate in the three-nation World Series Cup one-day competition with Australia and West In- dies.
