Date-stamped : 16 Nov95 - 06:36 Wednesday 15, November 1995 Sports Inbrief Sri Lanka pacemen in Australia Sri Lanka's pace bowlers Chaminda Vaas and Manjula Munasinghe who are already in Australia will join the Sri Lanka team on November 29 in Hobart, Tasmania. The two pacemen were sent to Australia on November 3 to be treat- ed for their injuries. They are being attended to by medical ex- perts in Sydney. The two pace bowlers will be fit to play in the one day game against Tasmania to be played in Hobart on November 29. Aussie physio to join the Sri Lanka team in Cairns Australian physiotherapist Alex Kountouri, who takes over from Dan Kiesler, who was dropped for the Australian tour, is expected to join the Sri Lanka team in Cairns before the weekend. Twenty seven-year-old Kountouri from Melbourne,is qualified to treat soft tissue injuries which occur often in cricketers. He is a member of the Australian Physiotherapist Association and is currently working with Alphinston Sports Medicine in Melbourne. Kountouri has work experience at the Australian Institute of Sports in Canberra and was physio of the Victorian State soccer team. He has also treated a lot of cricketers but this will be his first attempt with a national cricket team. Sri Lanka team leaves for Australia Sri Lanka cricket team leave on Tuesday night for the two-month tour of Australia during which time they will play 16 matches. Sri Lanka will play three Tests against Australia - December 8 to 12 in Perth, December 26 to 30 in Melbourne and January 25 to 29 in Adelaide. They will play other side games and also figure in the Benson and Hedges World Series triangular with Australia and the West In- dies. The tour opens with a one-day game on Sunday with a Queens- land XI at Cairns and it will be followed by a four-day game also against Queensland from November 22 to 25.Sri Lanka right now are on a winning trend, with the fine performances in New Zealand, followed by the dual win in Pakistan (both Tests and one-day games) all of which were capped with the triumph in the Singer Champions Trophy in Sharjah.
