Boland started the day on 121 for 6, needing another 70 runs to make Western Province bat again, but that seemed a far-fetched dream as Meyrick Pringle continued to tor- ment them. Pringle, who started the day with two wickets, ran through the tail in spectacular fashion as Boland crashed to 123 all out in a matter of three overs. Boland`s capitulation start- ed when Pringle had Adrian Holdstock caught behind for eight with the fourth ball of the morning. More drama was to unfold as the normally resolute Claude Hender- son was trapped lbw off the next ball leaving Roger Telemachus to ward off the hat-trick. Although Telemachus was rapped on the pad to a tumultuous appeal, Pringle was to be temporarily denied. Telemachus faced only two more balls from Pringle before he too was trapped lbw for no score and the rout was completed when Charl Willoughby was bowled by Pringle off the fifth ball of the third over for a duck to leave Western Province comfortable vic- tors. Pringle`s contribution was decisive. After claiming five for 67 in the first innings the swing bowler went one better in the second with a return of six for 41 giving him a match analysis of eleven for 108. "This must be the best form of my career," the man of the match explained. "Back in 1992 I ran into similar form but I think I`m doing a few more things with the ball now. It`s just a pity my form won`t get me into the final test at Newlands, but maybe I can still get into the limited overs side," Pringle said ruefully. Western Province captain John Commins was naturally happy with his side`s performance. "I`m pleased with the way things have been going for us, especially after the hiccup we had against Transvaal in the first game of the season. Our batsman have done well. We haven`t scored under 200 yet, while Meyrick, Aubrey (Martyn) and Paul (Adams) have been doing well for us," Commins said. With four wins from their six matches Western Province have moved to 81 points - 14 clear of second placed Natal and 19 ahead of third placed Transvaal.
