- Nathan Astle's 100 was the first century in a Shell cup final.
- Stephen Flemings 102 was his highest score in Shell Cup cricket.
- Canterbury & NZ captain and keeper L Germon left the field
late in the game with a shoulder injury - his replacement
behind the stumps was novice keeper G Stead who took a very
good catch 1st ball he recieved.
