100*   Completes seventh century in eight consecutive innings,  a
unique  achievement  in  the first-class cricket. In the previous
innings had achieved six centuries in  seven  innings, to   equal
E.Tyldesley   (1926),  V.Merchant  (1940/41-1941/42), W.R.Hammond
(1945-46) and P.N.Kirsten (1976/77); only sixth batsman to  score
seven centuries in nine innings, with C.B.Fry (1901), E.Tyldesley
(1926) and D.G.Bradman (four times, in 1931/32, 1937/38,  1938/39
and 1947/48).

501*   Boundary off J.E.Morris sees new first-class individual
       record score, beating 499 by Hanif Mohammad, Karachi v
       Bhawalpur, Karachi 1958/59.

Other Records:

Lara (46*-297*) and T.L.Penney (0-44) added 314 for third  wicket
(185  mins,  55.1  overs)  and Lara (336*-501*) and K.J.Piper (0-
116*) added 322* for fifth wicket (162 mins, 45.1  overs).   This
was  the first time in the first-class cricket that two stands in
excess of 300 occured in the same innings; it follows  that  Lara
is  the  first  batsman  to be involved in two such stands in one
innings.

802 runs were  scored  while  Lara  was  at  the  wicket,  a  new
Warwickshire  record,  beating  the 657 scored during R.G.Twose's
277* against Glamorgan at  Edgbaston  earlier  in  1994.   Lara's
total  is  second  best  ever,  beaten only by the 811 runs which
R.Abel batted out during his 357* for  Surrey  against   Somerset
at  The Oval in 1899.

Lara scored 641 in two innings, beating the  previous  record  of
W.H.Ponsford, 639 (437 & 202) for Victoria 1927/28.

From his 375 for WI at ST John's to his 501*  Lara  scored  1,551
runs  in  eight  innings, beating the previous record of 1,400 by
W.H.Ponsford  (Vic)  over  the  Australian  seasons  1926/27  and
1927/28.

Lara's 1,615 runs in nine innings, 1,641 in 10 and 1,862  in  12,
also beat records previously held by Ponsford, while his 1,798 in
11 innings beats Bradman's record. Ponsford holds the records for
most  runs  in consecutive innings from 13 thru 16, while from 17
onwards Bradman takes over.
