S. AFRICA END LOSING STREAK

South Africa ended a  miserable  run  of  11  successive  one-day
losses  with  a comprehensive 69-run defeat of New Zealand in the
Mandela Trophy match.

Accurate seam bowling restricted them to 203 for eight  in  their
50  overs. But despite a blazing start by opener Bryan Young this
proved well beyond New Zealand's reach.

Young struck several lofted  drives  off  the  bowling  of  Craig
Matthews and Fanie de Villiers before falling to a fine, tumbling
catch at mid-on by debutant Mike Rindel. He made 25 from just  23
balls.
