Date-stamped : 06 Mar94 - 18:24 Pak v NZ, ODI2, Eden Park, Auckland, 6 Mar 94 Wasim Akram was in fine form with bat and ball as Pakistan beat New Zealand by 36 runs to take a 2-0 lead in the five match series. Akram was named man of the match after picking up 4-23 as the Kiwis slumped to 110 all out, and for an important 33 in Pakistan's 146. Pakistan slumped to 65-6 after being put in but Sohail (48) and Akram added a crucial 62 in 89 balls to boost them. The Kiwis lost Bryan Young in the first over and Ken Rutherford's run out proved crucial. Pakistan grabbed a 36 run victory against New Zealand but the game was marred after Ata- ur-Rehman was hit by objects thrown by supporters The tourists walked off the field early in the Kiwis' innings after Rehman was struck on the side of the head by a small glass bottle. Rehman who was not seriously hurt had earlier been hit by a piece of fruit thrown from the same part of the crowd.
