Date-stamped : 11 Nov93 - 10:12 Pune, Nov 11 (PTI) Central Zone scored an exciting one wicket win with one one ball to spare against South Zone in the one day Deodhar Trophy cricket match at the Nehru Stadium here today. Brief scores: South Zone: 207 for seven in 50 overs. Central Zone: 210 for nine in 49.5 overs. Central Skipper Yusuf Ali khan made a useful 22 before being run out from a direct throw from D Vasu at mid-wicket when the score was 39. Khurasia soon followed his Skipper, snapped up by wicket- keeper Avinash Vaidya off Sunil Subramaniam for three. Rizwan Shamshad, who had scored a brilliant century in the Duleep Trophy against South Zone, batted sensibly with Manoj Mudgal to increase the run rate. Mudgal was dropped by M Venkataramana off his own bowling when he had made 58, while Vaidya missed a stumping chance on 69 off Swaroop. Central's third wicket fell on 140 when Mudgal was caught by Vaidya off Swaroop. Mudgal's 75 had eight fours and was made in 117 minutes facing 107 balls. Rizwan was soon caught smartly by Sunil Subramaniam at mid-wicket off Swaroop, after making a fine 50 facing 98 balls in 102 minutes. Gyendra Pandey made a quickfire 13 which included a six and a four. Earlier, a fine knock of 77 by V B Chandrasekhar and his opening wicket stand of 103 runs with R Swaroop helped South Zone score 207 for seven. The opening wicket stand came in 29.4 overs. Chandrasekhar's valuable 77 came in 148 minutes off 101 balls with seven fours. For central, right-arm spinner Preetam Gandhe, who captured three wickets for 42 runs, was the most suc- cessful bowler for Central Zone. Hirwani and Pande claimed one wicket each.
