Aus Women's Cricket 1993/4 : Summary
|
Australia Women's Cricket 1993/4
The national championships was held over the last two weeks. It
was played in Perth and was won by New South Wales who have been
trying for a while now. You wouldn't believe but I can find the
Victorian score anywhere in the papers, because of Perth's time
difference I would think.
New South Wales made 7 for 244 with Sally Griffiths scoring 52 L
Keightley 34 B Matthews 31 not out J Garey 27 not out K Bradley
took 3-44 and Karen Brown 1-31
Victoria scored something like 230 all out with somebody making a
century, I didn't take that much notice expecting it to be in the
paper. But New South Wales win. Late stuff, I think it might
have been Julie Calvert.
The position play offs went:
Queensland 7-300 d ACT 183
(N Keals 40 G Hall 28 P Brown 27 Bow 6-65 Dannatt 2-22)
South Australia 5-323 d Western Australia 260
(J Burnett 76 A Marsh 32 M Cann 3-54)
The final placing were something like
NSW, Vic, SA, Qld, WA, ACT
Must have been a bit dissapointing for Zoe Goss who thought the
home ground advantage might have been enough for them to win but
still NSW, Vic and SA lead.
An Australian SQUAD was announced:
B Clark, S Griffiths, C Matthews, L Keightley, T Langsford, D An-
netts (NSW) J Broadbent, L Hunter, C Ward (SA), Z Goss, A Gray
(WA), B Calver (ACT) J Calvert, K Bradley, C Fitzpatrick, T Fost-
er (VIC) S Bow, J Price, K Rich (QLD)
