Date-stamped : 16 Feb94 - 10:39 Australia vs Northern Transvaal. Played at Centurion Park, Verwoerdburg, 12-15 February 1994. Ian Healy broke the South African record for the number of dismissals in a first class match with his 10 catches and 1 stumping. The previous record of 10 dismissals had been held jointly by 5 different players. Merv Hughes was obviously not quite up to match fitness and in fact has since broken down with a back injury. The Australian approach to batting was very refreshing and one can only hope that their attacking approach is contagious. Some of the South African sides can do with some more aggression in their batting. Paul Reiffel impressed with his accuracy and picked up 8 wickets in the match. The Australian fielding was a bit sloppy at times and needs to be worked on before the 1st one day international on Saturday. Northern Transvaal are currently bottom of the Castle Cup log of 8 teams.
