Date-stamped : 20 Nov93 - 19:43 Ind v Eng, T3, Oval(?), 23-27Aug90, D2 Match Report India began at 324 for 4. England's bowlers came out refreshed and Fraser bowled especially well. His first 4 overs were maidens, and in his fifth, he had Prabhakar lbw - having hit him 3 times on the pads in the over before. Tendulkar came in and made 21 before he slashed at one from Williams and Lamb took a very fast catch at 1st slip. Shastri however plodded on passing his previous best test score (142). He and Kapil Dev put on 110 for the 6th wicket either side of lunch before Shastri was caught by Lamb off Malcolm. Kapil Dev continued attacking and hit Fraser around a bit. He and More put on another 74 before he was out, stumped by Russell off Hemmings. Wassan supported More for a while before being bowled round his legs by Hemmings. Hirwani came in and held up his end while the total progressed to 606, when Azharuddin decalred. This left England about 30 mins to face before stumps. India got what they wanted. Prabhakar, get- ting the ball to swing around, got Atherton to edge one to More the wicket-keeper. Williams came in as night watchman and hit a few blows before the close. England will resume tomorrow needing another 371 to avoid the follow-on. Thanks to Martyn Shortley, T.V.Raman on r.s.c. Contributed by probal (probal@*rutgers.edu)
