Date-stamped : 27 May95 - 18:23 Tour match: M.C.C. v NEW ZEALANDERS Played at Lord's, 11-13 May 1927. Result: Match drawn. Opposed by a powerful amateur side, the New Zealanders fully held their own in a drawn match, which yielded over 1,500 runs. The tourists accomplished a particularly good performance, after los- ing four wickets for 106, in heading the M.C.C.`s total by 68 runs. In doing so, they owed much to Dacre who, hitting away in delightful style, made 107 in which were twenty 4s in an hour and a half. Lowry, too, batted with refreshing freedom, if giving two chances, and Blunt played well in each innings. Missed at slip when 1, Titchmarsh afterwards showed great skill and judge- ment for four hours, and stayed until the score reached 343. In Marylebone`s second innings, Titchmarsh and Lyon put on 188, and Allen and Ashton 194. Contributed by J.R.F.Evans (en92jrfe@exeter.ac.uk)
