At the luncheon interval on the first day thousands of spectators rushed over the enclosures. The game was twice stopped owing to encroachments on the field of play. Mounted policemen entered the ground and forced the crowd back.' Mitchell's 106 included 19 fours and lasted 150 minutes. MacLaren's 117 included 17 fours and lasted 205 minutes. Ward's 100 included 9 fours and took 285 minutes
