- Rain ruined the wicket after the Oxford University innings,
there being no play until 4 pm on the second day. Foster's
innings of 169 included 6 sixes and 10 fours and took 150
minutes. He scored four sixes off consecutive balls from
W.G.Grace. It was his third century in consecutive innings.
Bosanquet's first hundred was scored in 90 minutes. Grace
could not bat owing to an injured hand, but `with the ground
as it was he would have had no chance of saving the game'
