- Two and a half hours were lost to rain on the second day. The
net system was in use during this match. Gunn bowled
unchanged in both innings
- The net system: a net three feet high was placed around the
playing area to form a boundary. The object of the experiment
was to discourage boundary hitting. Therefore hits over the
net counted only 3. Any hit that did not go over the net was
to be run out and two additional runs allowed if the ball
reached the net
- A special meeting of the Marylebone Cricket Club on May 2nd confirmed the
following alterations to the laws of the game which came into
force at once: (a) six balls to constitute an over; (b)
declaration permissable at or after the luncheon interval on
the second day; (c) the side which leads by 150 runs in a
three-day match, by 100 runs in a two-day match, and by 75
runs in a one-day match shall have the option of calling on
the other side to follow its innings
