Successive fours by captain Belinda Clark completed the win for Australia with Clark 48 not out and Lisa Keightley 51 not out.
The Dutch side, which had already finished last in the tournament before the final game had started, was 107/7 after 50 overs.
Because the Australians got through their overs so quickly, they were able to have seven overs batting before lunch.
By that time the score was 43/0.
Lisa Keightley and Belinda Clark were able to make the most of some poor bowling.
Clark did offer a sharp chance from Elise Reynolds to wicket-keeper Rowan Milburn when on 21 but it was not held.
After 15 overs, Australia was 63/0. Keightley was 26 and Clark 25.
The effort against the defending world champions was a definite highlight of the Dutch campaign. Batting through the 50 overs they were 107/7.
They failed to score three figures against two other semi-finalists in the Cup. New Zealand dismissed them for 80 and South Africa 92.
Easily the best of the Netherlands batsmen was captain Pauline te Beest. She scored 42 from 69 balls before being well caught on the boundary when a half century looked in prospect.
Avril Fahey was able to improve her best one-day figures by taking 3-19 from eight overs.
She hit nine boundaries to all points of the ground, including a delightful square drive to bring up the 50-run partnership with Rowan Milburn.
However, after 69 balls she climbed into a ball from leg-spinner Olivia Magno and found substitute fielder Louisa Broadfoot on the mid-wicket boundary.
Fielding right on the fence she had to come slightly infield to get under the ball, and then hit the ball up into the air and then held it on the rebound.
At 65/3 it was a blow for the Netherlands, but two overs later the situation became all but terminal as Caroline Salomons dreadfully ran herself out when the run was never on.
Left to take responsibility for the innings, Milburn was 14 not out at the 31-over mark with the side 73/4.
Helmien Rambaldo was caught at the wicket from Julie Hayes' bowling when the score was four in the sixth over.
Then in the 11th over Maartje Koster was beaten and bowled by Charmaine Mason for 2, leaving the Netherlands 8/2.
That brought together two of the Netherlands best batsmen, captain Pauline te Beest and Rowan Milburn.
Going into the 20th over they had taken the score through to 42/2 with de Beest in dominating form scoring 27 from 44 balls. Milburn was much more cautious on four, from 27 balls.
The Dutch side have already won the wooden spoon in the World Cup and there is nothing resting on the game with Australia also having qualified for the semi-finals as top qualifier.
Conditions for the game were fine, continuing the remarkable run of good weather for the tournament. While slightly overcast, the sun was starting to break up the cloud cover just before play was due to start.
