Throwing concerns never entered Drumm's head Lynn McConnell - 9 December 2000
New Zealand captain Emily Drumm said she had never been concerned about the possibility that bowlers might be throwers. She was commenting after CricInfo Women's World Cup umpires asked that the bowling actions of three players, Renu Margrate (India), Caroline Salomons (the Netherlands) and Erin McDonald (New Zealand) be inspected by the tournament committee. "Our game is so non-controversial, the thought that someone was throwing never once came into my head. "It never seemed to bother us, it is not even an issue for us," she said. Drumm said that when she saw Margrate bowling today all she wanted to do was smack her bowling around the park. "My ultimate goal is to watch the seam on the ball. I don't look at the way she bowls. You might do that more from the sideline. "But as far as I am concerned it is the umpires' decision at the end of the day." She said that New Zealand was not looking at shielding McDonald by not including her in future games. As far as Drumm was concerned there were 15 players available and all would be considered for the next match. © CricInfo
