After advancing through the ICC World T20 Qualifier 2013 in the UAE, Hong Kong travels to Bangladesh in March 2014 to contest the ICC World Twenty20 2014. Before the start of the main event, Hong Kong plays in a preliminary round involving the six qualifiers from UAE plus hosts Bangladesh and Zimbabwe. The top two teams from the preliminary round will advance to play in the main competition against the eight established test playing nations. All of Hong Kong's Preliminary Round matches will be played at Chittagong.
Enroute to Bangladesh, Hong Kong will visit Sri Lanka and Dubai as part of their preparations.
