The following details regarding the 2005-06 HKCA Saturday Cup have been agreed:- 

a) The Saturday Cup will consist 20 teams; 17 league teams plus 3 Social teams.

b) Squads must be nominated and lodged with the HKCA office before 17:00hrs on 24th February;

c) The draw for the qualifying games and 1st Round will be made on 24th February at a venue to be announced;

d) The qualifying games will be held on 4th March; the qualifying round shall consist the five bottom teams in the Saturday League at the time of the draw and the three non league teams;

e) The 1st Round will be played on 11th/18th March; 2nd Round on 18th/25th March, Semis 25th March/1st, 5th or 8th April and the final at a venue to be announced on 22nd April;

f) Teams failing to win the qualifying round will drop out of the competition. Teams defeated in the 1st Round shall enter the Plate competition which will be played in tandem with the Cup;

g) Saturday Cup eligibility rules are detailed on page 17 of the 2005/2006 HKCA Handbook (see also below).

Please ensure that when nominating your squads you only include those players that have agreed to play in your squad. On a number of occasions in the past, some players have appeared in up to 3 squads. Also, when submitting your squad please include the player's HKCA registration number. Players know their registration numbers.

Saturday Cup Rules

Entrants & Eligibility

1. a) The Saturday Cup Competition is open to all Saturday League teams. In addition, the LCMC may invite non-league sides to enter and may amend the Cup format at its discretion.

b) The format of the Saturday Cup and Plate Competitions shall be decided by the LCMC.

c) Teams must submit their player squad to the HKCA before the first round draw is made. No transfers or additions will be allowed without the prior approval of the MDC.

d) All players must have played at least one Saturday League match for the team they represent in the Cup during the current season. This rule may be waived for non-league sides. However, the MDC shall be the sole judge of the eligibility and/or appropriateness of any players entering the competition under the 'non-league' category.

e) Any team failing to submit its Cup squad before the published deadline will be required to ensure that all its players have played at least TWO SaturdayLeague games for the same team during the season before they are eligible to play in the Cup and have their inclusion pre-approved by the MDC.

Team Captains should also note:

Match expenses (balls and refreshments) are to be divided equally between both teams.

Teams losing the qualifying round will take no further part in the competition. Teams losing the 1st Round games will be entered into the Plate competition.
