WEST INDIES WIN BY 86 RUNS AT DHAKA
West Indies scored a most convincing 86 runs victory over Bangladesh in the third ODI game played at Dhaka. With this win they take the ODI series 2-0. Alok Kapali refused to surrender, even when wickets kept falling at the other end; he remained unbeaten on a sparkling 89 (95 balls, 10 fours) as Bangladesh finished with 195/9 in their allotted 50 overs.

Bangladesh lost their fifth wicket with the score on 109 in the 33rd over, Anwar Hossain (42) scooped a catch to Hinds at mid-on off the bowling of debutant Daren Powell. Skipper Khaled Mashud (16) going for a sweep was bowled by Chris Gayle.

Naimur Rahman (7) was caught and bowled; Chris Gayle's 50th ODI victim. Mohammad Rafique was unlucky to be adjudged out lbw to the first ball he faced - the ball was clearly angling down the leg.

Tall Cameron Cuffy struck in the 47th over - trapping Tapash Baisya leg before the wicket. But then, the West Indies bowler just couldn't find a way to get rid of Alok Kapali, as Bangladesh batted out the 50 overs.

DRAKES SENDS BANGLADESH INTO A TAILSPIN
Vasbert Drakes destroyed Bangladesh batting line-up last night with a four-wicket haul, and did the same this evening with an opening burst (8-1-20-4), as Bangladesh struggled to 76/4 at the end of the 25th over. Opening batsman Anwar Hossain (27*) and Alok Kapali (18*) are the unbeaten batsmen, and have so far added 34 runs for the fifth wicket partnership.

Ehsanul Haque (20) was the first batsman to be dismissed, trapped plumb lbw by Drakes in the 11th over. New batsman Mohammad Ashraful lasted only two balls, falling in the same over, caught by Hinds after making the solitary run.

Drakes struck again twice in the 13th over, Sanwar Hossain (5) was caught behind, and Tushar Imran (0) was trapped lbw for a second ball duck. Bangladesh were reeling at 42/4 at the end of the 13th over. Anwar Hossain and Kapali have steadied the innings so far, but a Bangladesh victory looks the most unlikely result of this match.

WEST INDIES SET BANGLADESH A STIFF TARGET AT DHAKA
Resuming at a score of 101/1 at the end of the 25th over, West Indies went on to pile on 180 runs off the next 25 overs. Useful knocks by Chris Gayle (73 off 90 balls) and Marlon Samuels (77 off 101 balls), and a flourish towards the end from Ricardo Powell (36* off 28 balls) and skipper Ridley Jacobs (23 off 20 balls) helped West Indies to finish with 281/5 at the end of their alloted 50 overs.

Bangladesh bowling was just about adequate on a pitch that is very much on the slower side. But it is the mistakes in the field that the home side will rue most. Catches were dropped, fielders fumbled with the ball, and the West Indies batsmen made most of the opportunities.

The second wicket partnership between Gayle and Samuels yielded 108 runs off 24.3 overs. Gayle had struck eleven boundaries before he was caught behind off Sanwar Hossain. This was soon after Ehsanul Haque picked up an injury half way through his fourth over.

Ramnaresh Sarwan joined a watchful Samuels and the two went about with business as usual. This trip to the subcontinent has helped both these youngsters cement their place in the West Indies batting line-up.

Sarwan looked good for yet another half century, but fell after making 28 runs off 32 balls. Samuels in the meanwhile had hit a couple of huge sixes, but soon after the dismissal of Sarwan, he played a rash shot and was bowled by Mohammad Rafique.

West Indies were 208/4 in the 42nd over, and the hard hitting Ricardo Powell and Ridley Jacobs went on to add 62 runs for the fifth wicket partnership in just 7.2 overs. Jacobs was run out, looking for quick runs. Mahendra Nagamootoo came out to bat and made nine runs off just four balls, hitting two boundaries.

Naimur Rahman (10-0-32-1) was easily the best bowler for Bangladesh. It was a dreadful day for left-arm seamer Manjural Islam; he finished with the figures of 10-0-77-0.

WEST INDIES MADE TO FIGHT FOR RUNS AT DHAKA
West Indies batsmen have found it difficult to play freely against some tight Bangladesh bowling in the third ODI game. The tourists are 101/1 at the end of 25 overs, with Chris Gayle unbeaten on 48 (66 balls, 8 fours) and Marlon Samuels on 29 not out. The only wicket to fall was that off Wavell Hinds (16) cleaned up by a Tapash Baisya yorker.

Gayle and Samuels have so far added 55 runs for the second wicket partnership. Gayle, riding his luck, has looked dangerous all the while. He struck Manjural Islam for a couple of consecutive boundaries in the 14th over. Islam has been very expensive and has the figures of 6-0-40-0.

It was with the introduction of spin bowling in the form of Mohammad Rafique (6-0-13-0) and Naimur Rahman (5-0-11-0) that the scoring rate came down. West Indies were 69/1 at the end of the 14th over, which means that they could score only 32 runs off the next eleven overs.

West Indies are heading for another big total with Bangladesh bowlers failing to claim wickets to put pressure on the batsmen.

WEST INDIES ELECT TO BAT AT DHAKA
Ridley Jacobs has won the toss and decided to bat first in the third and final ODI being played at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka. The pitch should offer better bounce than what it was yesterday, making it easy for stroke play. West Indies have rested Jermaine Lawson and given Daren Powell his ODI debut.

Bangladesh have made two changes to the team that lost last night; Anwar Hossain and Tushar Imran come in place of Al Sahariar and Habibul Bashar.

West Indies team: CH Gayle, WW Hinds, MN Samuels, RR Sarwan, D Ganga, RL Powell, RD Jacobs (Captain), MV Nagamootoo, VC Drakes, CE Cuffy, DB Powell.

Bangladesh Team: Ehsanul Haque, Anwar Hossain, Alok Kopali, Mohammed Asraful, Tushar Imran, Khaled Masud (Captain), Sanwar Hossain, Naimur Rahman, Mohammad Rafique, Tapash Kumar Baishaya, Monjurul Islam.
