The Electronic Telegraph Sussex v Glamorgan

At Hove, Sussex captain Chris Adams fired his second half-century in three National League innings as his side eased past Glamorgan by 54 runs to go top of the Second Division with their third straight win.

Glamorgan, set a target of 182 on a slow wicket, started steadily, with acting captain Steve James (27) and Alun Evans (36) putting on an an opening stand of 48 in 16 overs. But their last seven wickets tumbled for 44 as James Kirtley, Mark Robinson and Umer Rashid all claimed three wickets, and with 6.5 overs remaining Glamorgan were bowled out for a total of 127.

Sussex, who won the toss, lost Australian Michael Di Venuto for a duck to Steve Watkin. But Adams and opener Richard Montgomerie then hit half centuries before Sussex lost their last eight wickets for 40 to be dismissed with four balls of their innings remaining.

Adams's 113-ball innings ended when he drove loosely at Watkin to gave Cosker a straightforward catch at point, having hit six fours in his 71.

Montgomerie had reached 54 off 70 balls with nine fours when he was run out following a throw to the striker's end after he attempted a second run off Dean Cosker.
