New Zealand v Australia at Wellington

Pre-game: Preview, Update, End of day,

Weather clears as day is abandoned

The umpires have checked conditions at the WestpacTrust Stadium and the game has been abondoned for the day.

The drizzle has stopped, conditions overhead are relatively light and clear of any further rain, the culprit being the bowlers run ups.

Unbelievably there were no covers put over the run ups at either ends of the pitch after yesterday's women's game and after heavy overnight rain the placement of covers this morning was too late.

Play is now scheduled to start at 2pm tomorrow (NZ Time) with 50 overs per side.

Umpires to check conditions at 3pm

The latest news from WestpacTrust Stadium is the umpires will have a look at conditions at 3pm (NZ Time).

There is still an annoying light drizzle dampening the ground but it's not hard enough for people to put up their umbrellas.

The covers are still on the pitch while the ground staff continue to address the outfield. If the rain stops completely and stays away we could have some play later this afternoon.

Rain delays play again in Wellington

Like yesterday's women's match, the New Zealand v Australia One-Day International will be delayed due to rain at Wellington's Westpac Trust Stadium.

Heavy overnight rain and light drizzle this morning has kept the covers on all morning and into the afternoon so with play scheduled to start now (2pm NZ time) it looks doubtful we will get a start today.

While the crowd drift into their seats and the ground staff prepare the outfield the drizzle persists and and the covers remain over the pitch. At this stage there aren't any promising signs at all we will start today.

There is no wind to dispose of these frustrating conditions and with a grey cloud cover immediate play is looking a more distant prospect every hour.
