- In their first friendly encounter of the new season, Hampshire defeated
Sussex at Southampton, by 1 wicket with one ball to spare.
- Chasing 213 to win in 50 overs, they looked out of it when the 8th wicket
went down at 149. A 49 run partnership with Aymes and Renshaw brought
Hampshire back.
- A sparking 73 by Rajesh Rao gave the Sussex innings some impetus. Hampshire
were indebted to their new captain Robin Smith with a run a ball half
century.
