Teen strikes stunning 92 The Christchurch Press - 11 February 1999 A stunning 92 in just 66 balls by 16-year-old Aroha Northover was the catalyst for New Zealand A's 74-run win over South Africa in the second women's cricket international. Northover flayed the visitors bowling at Lincoln Green yesterday and shared a 100-run stand with opener Paula Flannery from just 91 balls. The left-hander from central Hawkes Bay, who included eight fours and a six in her powerful innings, fully justified her inclusion in the A team. Flannery, from Canterbury, also contributed considerably, initially with a 98-run stand for the second wicket with fellow Cantabrian Jo Lawler, then in tandem with Northover. The South Africans improved their bowling direction somewhat but still conceded 31 wides yesterday, an improvement on the previous day when it delivered 48 wides. The outcome was still the same with the home side bowling accurately to keep the South African batters under control. Although rather expensive, Missy Moffat took three wickets with her flighted off-spinners. South Africa now faces New Zealand in a three-test series starting tomorrow in Dunedin.
