Day 1 Report

The Haryana scored 293 for 8 on the first day of the North Zone Ranji League match being played at MA Stadium.

Skipper Vijay Yadav was the top-scorer, scoring 74 runs off 71 deliveries (10 fours, 1 six). The highlight of the day was Jammu and Kashmir's former captain and all-rounder, Ashwani Gupta taking six wickets. With today's haul, he has taken 95 wickets in Ranji Trophy cricket, He thus becomes the second highest wicket-taker for Jammu and Kashmir in Ranji Trophy, behind former cricketer and now Deputy Commisioner of Udhampur district, Mehboob Iqbal.

Day 2 Report

The visitors Haryana were all out for 310 today after, batting for 27 minutes. They resumed from their overnight score of 293 for 8.

In reply, Jammu and Kashmir had scored 249 for 6 when stumps were drawn. Rohit Maltoo scored 84 while skipper Sanjay Sharma is still at crease on at 71. Ashwani took 7 wickets in the first innings, just four short of the 100-wicket mark in Ranji Matches.

Day 3 Report

The hosts Jammu and Kashmir played superbly to take a 44-run first innings lead over Haryana, for the first time in the history of its participation in the Ranji Trophy tournament.

In response to Haryana's total of 310, Jammu and Kashmir scored 354. In the second innings, Haryana made a poor start and lost their first wicket off the last ball of the very first over. Haryana were 121 for 6 at close of play.

An incident enlivened the day's proceedings. Only six Jammu and Kashmir players were on the field when Haryana began their first innings. Seeming to take their cue from the recent actions of the West Indies squad, they were demanding match-fee arrears, due to them. Thankfully the ``protest'' did not last long, as they joined their mates at the start of the second over.

Day 4 Report

Visitors Haryana won their North Zone Ranji league match against Jammu and Kashmir by 43 runs today.

Earlier, resuming from their overnight score of 121 runs, Haryana were all out at 167. Jammu and Kashmir, with a 44-run first innings lead, required 124 runs to win. With an easy win in sight, Jammu and Kashmir were found wanting, and crashed to 80 all out.

Haryana thus took full points (8) inspite of conceding a first innings lead. Ashwani Gupta of Jammu and Kashmir, who had 89 wickets in the Ranji Trophy prior to this match, took 12 in this match (7 in the first innings and 5 in the second), to go past the 100-wicket mark. He also top-scored today with 24 in Jammu and Kashmir's second innings
