Day 4: Emphatic victory for Railways
As expected by everyone Railways outplayed Rajasthan in every
department and comfortably beat them by an innings and 44 runs on the
final day of their four-day Ranji Trophy League match played at
Mansarover.
Overnight 107 for 3, Rajasthan's professional player Aashis Kapoor
delayed their team's certain defeat while he stayed about 151 minutes
at wickets for his 52 runs, that was the highest score by a Rajasthani
batsman in the match. However, this was not enough to avert defeat, as
Rajasthan's second innings folded up at 231 runs, 20 minutes before
the tea interval.
This is the second innings victory on the trot for Railways versus
Rajasthan. They beat Rajastan by an innings and one run in last year's
league match played at Delhi. If there was a Man-of-the-match award,
it would have gone to Railways' all-rounder Sanjay Bangar. He
single-handedly changed the whole complexion of the match by taking
four Rajasthan wickets in the space of 7 balls in the first innings.
He also scored 68 painstaking runs, apart from taking five magnificent
catches in slips.
