Zimbabwe all-rounder Guy Whittall was fined 50 percent of his match fee for dissent during the final day's play of the second cricket test against Sri Lanka at the SSC grounds yesterday.

Whittall was charged by ICC match referee Raman Subba Row for breaching the ICC's code of conduct (3) regarding dissent.

``After excessive appealing by players on both sides during the two Test matches and complaints from one in writing. I called the two captains together this morning (Sunday) to emphasise the need for moderation'', said Subba Row.

``In addition, I specifically asked both captains to tell their bowlers not to run at the wicket-keeper following an appeal without ascertaining the result of that appeal,'' said Subba Row.

``Guy Whittall did precisely that which brought about his charge,'' he said.
