Outcome of Test depends on weather

LAHORE, Oct 22: Pakistan cricket team coach Haroon Rashid lamented on Wednesday that rains had marred the on-going Test series between Pakistan and South Africa and the fans had been deprived of good cricket.

Talking to reporters in the Qadhaffi Stadium at conclusion of a net-practice session of the Pakistani players, Haroon Rashid said that unexpected rains in Punjab badly affected both the Rawalpindi and Sheikhupura Tests.

He expressed the hope that the weather will have mercy on cricket-lovers and the third and last Test of the series at Faisalabad to be organised from October 24 to 28 would not be disturbed.

Haroon Rashid said that opener Aamir Sohail and the pacemen Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis and Shahid Nazir could not attend the practice-session.

He said that Wasim Akram was entangled in his personal problems, Waqar Younis did individual practice in the morning, while Aamir Sohail and Shahid Nazir were out of Lahore and representing their departmental teams in the Patron's Trophy Cricket Tournament Grade I matches.

The former Test batsman and now a national coach Haroon Rashid said that the other nine members included in the 13-member Pakistan side for the third Test were quite fit and God-willing the team will make its maximum effort to win the last Test because the result of the three-match series hinged on that.

The Pakistan team will go to Faisalabad on Thursday. The South African team is already in Faisalabad.
