Well informed sources said Aamir Sohail will be recalled in place of Mohammad Ramazan while Shahid Nazir will be included in the side in place of Ali Husain Rizvi.
Both Sohail and Nazir excelled in their respective fields in the just started domestic season.
Sohail scored 128, 7, 12 and 27 in the four first-class innings while Nazir claimed five for 100 in National Bank's 309. Nazir had one for 45 as Habib Bank and National Bank match ended in a draw. If both the players don't get a Test call, highly unlikely though, they would be facing each other when Allied Bank will meet Habib Bank in the second round of the Patron's Trophy at the UBL Sports Complex.
Informed sources said Aqib Javed was also in contention, specially after he grabbed five wickets for 77 against Pakistan Customs, but he may be edged out by Shahid Nazir as he has been a regular member of the team since he made his debut against New Zealand at Sheikhupura last year. Sources emphasised that an official of the cricket board was rushed to Faisalabad to take a look at the arrangements and ground conditions. He is also assigned to submit a report about the wicket.
Initially, the authorities had stressed for a bouncy and seaming track at Faisalabad. But they were now unsure if their instructions would be carried out after witnessing the nature of strips at Rawalpindi and Sheikhupura.
It may be recalled that only two-and-a-half innings was possible at Rawalpindi while ball turned very slowly at a rain-marred Sheikhupura Test.
The likely 13 for the third Test are:
Saeed Anwar (captain), Ali Naqvi, Aamir Sohail, Ijaz Ahmad, Inzamamul Haq, Mohammad Wasim, Moin Khan, Wasim Akram, Azhar Mahmood, Waqar Younis, Saqlain Mushtaq, Mushtaq Ahmad and Shahid Nazir.
