Date-stamped : 16 Jul96 - 02:15 AXA Equity & Law League Derbyshire v Durham Derby 14 July 1996 ====> REPORT Durham defeated again Derbyshire beat Durham by 60 runs DURHAM were comprehensively beaten by 60 runs in a low-key match at Derby. Not even unbroken sunshine could pierce the gloom for the visi- tors, whose 10th Sunday defeat extended their run this season to 25 matches without victory over a first-class county. There was no suggestion yesterday of a change in fortune and Durham`s response to Derbyshire`s challenging 240 for seven was muted. There seemed an air of weary resignation to Durham`s crick- et and the match was finished as a contest by the halfway stage of their innings, when they needed 160 from the last 20 overs. Mike Roseberry laboured through 25 overs and no one could break the stranglehold imposed by some demanding seam bowling. Phil- lip DeFreitas conceded only 19 runs and Durham ended on 180 for seven. Derbyshire made easier progress with Dean Jones taking 44 off 50 balls against his former county and Kim Barnett accelerat- ing from a slow start to record his best Sunday score of 69. Tim O`Gorman then upped the tempo with 40 from 34 deliveries. Source :: Electronic Telegraph (http://www.telegraph.co.uk) Contributed by Shash (shs2@*.cwru.edu)
