Williams who came to bat at the fall of the fifth wicket at 52, deflected the first ball he faced on to his face while attempting a pull shot off Soysa. Williams was rushed to hospital where X'rays revealed a broken nose that required surgery.
West Indies 'A' team coach Gus Logie said that they would monitor Williams' progress closely before risk playing him further on the tour.
At the time of the injury Williams was wearing a helmet without a visor.
