Foremost is leading spinner Muthiah Muralitharan, who is only five wickets away from becoming the first Sri Lankan bowler to take 100 Test wickets. He went to New Zealand with 95 wickets from 25 Tests.
Also in line for a century of wickets is Sanath Jayasuriya. He requires seven wickets to become the first Sri Lankan bowler to take 100 wickets in the abbreviated game. Jayasuriya's current figures are 93 wickets from 119 one dayers.
Fast bowler Pramodya Wickremasinghe needs four wickets to reach 50 Test wickets.
Among the batsmen, opening bat Roshan Mahanama is in line to achieve two milestones. He needs 143 runs in the two Tests against New Zealand, to top 2,000 runs and 106 runs in the three one-day internationals to reach 4,000 runs in the overs limited game.
Sri Lanka vice-captain Aravinda de Silva requires 107 runs to become the first Sri Lankan to top 6,000 runs in one-day internationals. His present tally stands at 5893 runs from 195 one-day games.
Skipper Arjuna Ranatunga will become the first Sri Lankan to appear in 200 one-day internationals. He is two matches away from achieving that.
Other personal milestones that are due to be achieved are Kumara Dharmasena's fifty one-day wickets for which he requires four more wickets and wicket-keeper/batsman Romesh Kaluwitharana's 1,000 runs in one-day internationals, for which he is 22 runs short.
