The team was chosen at the end of the Australian Under 19 Cham-
pionships which were held in Canberra, ACT from January 13-24,
1997. New South Wales won the championship from Victoria and
South Australia. Notable performances in the championship were as
follows:

partnership for the 4th wicket between BJ Haddin and M Dawn for
ACT vs Tasmania (state record)
The match between NSW and South Australia was the most remarkable
match of the championship. NSW won the toss and batted first and
scored 1 dec 391 and then dismissed South Australia for 37 and 67
with McLauchlan doing the damage.
