Jadeja to join India for one-day series

15 January 1997

INDIA had a clear-out before their triangular one-day tournament in South Africa, dropping four players from the tour yesterday and bringing in replacements from India, including Ajay Jadeja.

Woorkeri Raman, Pankaj Dharmani and two bowlers, Venkatapathy Raju and David Johnson, are to fly home after the third and final Test against South Africa, which begins in Johannesburg today.

Jadeja, a surprising omission from the original batting selections, Robin Singh, an all-rounder, Sunil Joshi, spinner, and Salil Ankola, seam-bowler are to arrive for the series with Zimbabwe and South Africa, which lasts from Jan 23 to Feb 13.

The Indian party will return home for a week's break after two one-dayers in Zimbabwe next month instead of going straight on to the West Indies for the five-Test series.
