Tour Matches: India continue long, hard road

CRICKET'S endless Test treadmill deposited India in South Africa yesterday at the start of a daunting five-month tour for Sachin Tendulkar's side.

Fresh from a 2-1 home series victory over South Africa, India resume their acquaintance with a three-Test series in the Republic starting in Durban on Boxing Day. They then join a triangular one-day series with South Africa and Zimbabwe before a five-Test series in the West Indies.

Tendulkar will rely on six bowlers in the 16-man party with four seamers and two spinners. India have one three-day match against Eastern Province, starting tomorrow, before the first Test.
