Date-stamped : 18 Jul95 - 22:27 Tour Match: Yorkshire v Young Australia Headingley, 18 July 1995 Vaughan gives momentum - Neville Scott Yorkshire (224-6) beat Young Australians (156) by 68 runs FOR a side with four players who appeared in last January`s World Series final - for one or other of Australia`s two sides - the Young Australians` first tour defeat was disappointingly limp. Gratifyingly, four Yorkshiremen were younger than any of their opponents. Alex Morris, a gangling 18-year-old whose five for 32 included two wickets in his first over, and Anthony McGrath, after 41 in 53 deliveries, now depart for England Under-19s` first youth `Test` against South Africa tomorrow. And Michael Vaughan, last year`s Under-19 captain, offered a typ- ically cultured 76 from 95 balls, giving Yorkshire`s eventual 55-over total of 224 for six early momentum. Yorkshire`s score looked 20 runs short of par. But after 30 overs of the reply, 68 for five left an asking rate of 6.28 per over and Yorkshire bowled within themselves, to an intelligent length.
