Date-stamped : 16 May95 - 10:26 SUNLG: Gloucestershire v Nottinghamshire, Bristol, 14 May 1995 Cairns guides Notts home Chris Cairns, New Zealand`s Test all-rounder, hit 45 to guide Nottinghamshire to a tense four-wicket win over Gloucestershire at Bristol. Set only 116 to win in a match reduced by rain to 33 overs, the visitors scraped home with just four balls to spare. Gloucestershire batted poorly, with only Dean Hodgson (29) and the captain Jack Russell (20) showing sufficient application on a tricky, dry pitch. Jon Wileman took four for 21 and the innings lasted just 30.2 overs. But there was no shortage of spirit when Russell`s men set out to defend their meagre total. But for three missed chances in the closing stages, they might have forced an unlikely win.
